2026 Spring Bubble Net Feeding Humpback Whales Photo Tour, Sitka, Alaska

When the ocean comes alive

Each spring, the waters of Sitka erupt with life as herring flood Sitka Sound—drawing in humpback whales, sea lions, seabirds, and explosive surface feeding events. This tour focuses on photographing one of the most dramatic natural phenomena in Alaska: bubble net feeding.

Operating aboard a stable, photographer-friendly vessel with Local Guy Charters, we position ourselves safely and strategically to document coordinated whale behavior, surface lunges, and storytelling moments that reveal the scale and intelligence of these animals.

Expect fast action, changing light, and heart-pounding encounters—all guided with an emphasis on ethics, anticipation, and technique.
