Heather Kiesel is a fourth-generation Juneau, Alaska photographer focused on documenting wildlife and landscapes across Southeast Alaska. Her work reflects a lifelong connection to the region and its ecosystems.
Much of her photography is made possible through her husband, Ed Kiesel, owner of Ward Air, a Juneau-based floatplane company. Together, they access remote coastal areas, rivers, and islands where wildlife can be observed in its natural environment.
Her images feature coastal brown bears, humpback whales, bald eagles, and other species central to Alaska’s coastal ecosystem. Heather’s approach is grounded in patience, field awareness, and respect for wildlife.
A U.S. Army veteran and retired educator, she brings discipline and perspective to her work, creating images that offer an honest view of life in the wild.
Limited edition prints are available for collectors seeking a direct connection to Alaska’s wild places.
